Health GUIDE
Pre-operative evaluations
A pre-operative evaluation reviews your health before a planned procedure. Osita offers assessments for cosmetic and corrective surgery to help identify concerns that your surgical team should address.
General patient education. Your clinician’s individual instructions take priority. An online guide cannot determine eligibility or replace an examination.
Before your appointment
- Bring the surgeon’s orders, procedure date, contact details, and medication list. Allow time for results and follow-up. An evaluation does not eliminate surgical risk or guarantee clearance.
- Bring identification, insurance details, medicines, allergies, relevant records and any school, sports or employer forms.
- Confirm whether your particular test needs fasting or other preparation. Do not fast or stop medication unless instructed. For surgery clearance, bring your surgeon’s requirements.
What to expect
Your provider reviews medical history, medications, prior surgeries, and examination findings. Laboratory work or cardiac testing may be requested according to your health and the surgeon’s requirements.
After your visit
- Before leaving, confirm the next steps and how any results, forms or referrals will be communicated.
- Contact the clinic if the expected follow-up has not arrived. Do not assume that no message means every result is normal.
Follow-up & what to expect
Your clinician communicates findings and any remaining concerns. The surgeon and anesthesia team make the final procedural decisions. A pre-op evaluation reduces uncertainty but cannot guarantee a risk-free operation.
Your questions, answered
How far ahead should I book?
Ask your surgeon for the required testing window and book early enough for results, follow-up and any specialist review. Do not leave an evaluation until the day before surgery.
Do I need an ECG or every blood test?
Testing should reflect your health, procedure and surgical requirements. Bring the written orders. More testing is not automatically useful, and some requested tests may need another facility.
Should I stop my medicines?
Do not stop medicines independently. Bring prescriptions, supplements and a record of weight-loss medicines. Your prescriber, surgeon and anesthesia team should agree on the plan.
What if I get sick before surgery?
Report new fever, cough, infection symptoms or changes in health to both teams. A previously completed evaluation does not replace reassessment after a new illness.
Does this visit include surgery or recovery clearance?
No. This is a pre-operative health assessment. Surgical care, aftercare and permission to resume activities come from your surgical team.
Planning your visit
What will it cost?
Confirm visit fees and what is included before scheduling. Tests, medication, supplies or additional visits may be separate. Ask about insurance eligibility for medical care; coverage is not guaranteed. A consultation is not advertised as free.
